1980 TADSTANDER A TADACT Productions project

I feel particularly proud of this design as it achieved the maximum with an elegant minimum, serving a most effective and useful purpose – and I had the satisfaction of making it with very few problems in my Burra workshop.

I designed this particular model to suit a young girl at Koomarri School in O’Connor and went on to make a few more as I had the tube bending equipment and had developed the knowhow for making it. It was an elegant design which enabled the user to change the blood flow in the body to head up or head down conditions quite easily. We even sent one down to Victoria.

Multi-angular lockable knuckle joint for wheelchair use designed and developed with the casting assistance of Merit Engineering, Queanbeyan - and intended for use also with the Ideal wheelchair in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Somehow distance and language difficulties interfered. It was however used to great effect in one TAD wheelchair for a boy with spina bifida – see other entry.
