Fred Ward decided to resign from ANU in 1961 in order to undertake the commission to design the furnishings for the new Reserve Bank in Sydney.
As Assistant Designer at the ANU Design Unit I designed a small elegant coffee table as a presentation gift to Fred and it was made by Hans Pillig who was also a qualified cabinet maker.
On Fred’s death in 1990 Martin inherited the table – 6286 2956.
